National Vovinam Federation of Vietnam

HCM City — The Viet Nam Vovinam Federation, the governing body of Viet Nam’s national martial art, made its debut at a congress held in HCM City from October 19-20th, 2007.

The congress, attended by over 100 masters and experts in the field from all over the country, is seen as a move towards the establishment of the International Vovinam Federation and making the Vietnamese martial art an official sport at international games.

The congress elected a 37-member executive board for the first term (2007-11) with Le Quoc An, chairman of Viet Nam Textile and Apparel Association, as president.

Among six deputy chairmen, Master Nguyen Van Chieu was chosen to take care of the federation’s professional education.  Master Vo Danh Hai was appointed General Secretary.

Presidential Fitness Challenge

To further enhance and encourage the commitment to mind-body fitness of Vovinam disciples in the United States, Master Linh Thai (U.S. National Technical Director) issued a personal challenge for all those in the martial arts discipline and their family members to join him the the Presidential Fitness Challenge

 So far, Master Linh Thai has reached and earned the Bronze Medal award and is well on his way to earn the Silver Medal.
